Fairbuds

The first earbuds where you can replace the battery yourself

Selbst getestetAktualisiert 2026-105 Min. Lesezeit

TWS earbuds are the most disposable product category in electronics. These are the exception, and you pay for it in sound quality.

Why this category needed it

True wireless earbuds are the worst product in electronics for longevity: a sealed battery in each bud, glued shells, and a two-to-three-year lifespan before one side stops holding charge. The category produces an enormous amount of e-waste for something people replace without thinking.

Fairbuds break that pattern. Each earbud opens with screws, the battery is a replaceable cell, and the case battery is serviceable too. It is the difference between a disposable product and a durable one.

The honest trade-off

You are not buying these for sound. At €149 there are earbuds with better tuning, stronger noise cancelling and a smaller case. If audio quality is the only criterion, buy those instead.

You are buying a product designed to still work in year four. Whether that is worth a step down in sound is a personal calculation, and we would not pretend it is an obvious yes for everyone.

Keep

  • Battery is replaceable in each earbud and in the case
  • Replacement parts sold individually, not as a full unit
  • Standard screws instead of glued shells

Costs you

  • Sound and ANC are behind cheaper competitors
  • Firmware update cadence is slow
  • Case is bulky for the battery capacity
